How to Download Fonts Without Admin Privilages

I know that as a designer, most people will use their computer as an administrator. Well, I’ve learned many ways to install a font. These ways can be from using sophisticated lines in the command prompt to other stuff that will take one heck of a time. So, in order to avoid that, I’ve made an easy-to-use (or at least that’s what it was meant to be) tutorial that shows (with screenshots) exactly how to install a font without admin rights (though I don’t know why you’d want to do that). You’ll need one line of CMD (command prompt) code (I don’t know what it’s called), it’s gonna look like this:

Of course, Microsoft didn’t just program CMD to do this by default. You need a program called RegisterFont. Download it here:

http://www.mediafire.com/?hm4jb7w4dl4m5da

It’s in a “.exe” file. Do not open the file…just kidding, nothing happens when you open the file, so don’t even bother. It’s not supposed to work like that. First, before we can install a font (with CMD), I’m going to show you where to put it.

Notice the address (circled badly in red) in CMD:

Put registerfont.exe there. That’s also where you’ll place all the fonts you want installed.

In CMD, type in:

registerfont add your-font-name.ttf

…Then click enter. Replace “your-font-name.ttf” with your font name and abbreviation. Your font will be in the same file as the RegisterFont.exe file.

Fonts, Fonts….and OMG – more fonts!!

  1. SAF – the font that looks like the 2010 South Africa Fifa font!! http://fontfabric.com/saf-free-font/. Created by FontFabric, one of the most wondrous type foundries of our generation.

  2. http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/bebas-neue. This font has a great look to it. This font really reminded me of “League Gothic,” by the League of Movable Type. This was created by Dharma Type.

  3. http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fonts/Airstream. Airstream is a neat, high-quality, retro font – strait from the ’50’s. Created and Designed by Nick’s Fonts, this font really does remind me of the 1950’s!

Some Pretty Cool Fonts

Here I’ll post something designers look for (and create) all over the world: some pretty cool fonts. To heck with the introduction, I’ll get to the point.

Digital Ninja, created by the same author as above (Quiccs), hase the same sort of retro and futuristic look, but the differences are obvious.

Fatboy Font

Fatboy Slim is a pretty cool comic font. I found this on random searches. This is a super awesome comic font, and looks pretty good.

That’s it for this post, but in my searching, if I’ve learned something, it’s: there’s always something better!

Best Fonts Ever!

I know we all have been wandering the mighty web in search of the worlds “best” fonts. I have come to a stop, finding the fonts that should be regarded as the works of art that no man (no matter how noble of a designer thy art) can speak against. I have not presented download links for some most are commercial, but the images take you to the place where I got the image. You may search them up online if you want (*HINT* most are on MyFonts.com).

1. I know this is just a version of Gill Sans, but I think this is the best one in the pack. This is worth the money, buy it!
